Dr. Jeremias Gasper Mowo

Director, Research and Innovation

Jeremias Gasper Mowo has over 40 years Research for Development experience in integrated natural resource management in Eastern and Central Africa. He worked as an agronomist in the cotton – cassava - sweet potatoes - maize based agro-ecosystems of the semi-arid areas of Western Tanzania (1979 – 1989); as National coordinator (Tanzania) for Soil Fertility and Fertilizer Use Research (1990 – 1994); as Tanzania Site Coordinator for the ICRAF (World Agroforestry Centre) and ASARECA (Association for Strengthening Agricultural Research in East and Central Africa) programme of AHI (African Highlands Initiative) (1998 – 2005); Scientific advisor (Soil and water management) for a World Bank project in Rwanda (2005 – 2006); AHI Regional Coordinator for Eastern and Central Africa) (2007 – 2008), Regional Coordinator for ICRAF Eastern Africa (2009 – 2013) and Regional Coordinator for ICRAF Eastern and Southern Africa (2014 - 2018). Currently, he is Senior Advisor (Agroforestry) – World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) and Senior Fellow, Agroforestry & Natural Resource Management) at EverGreening Global Alliance. Jeremias has published more than 140 articles, 46 of which in peer reviewed journals
